Steps:

  1. Reboot your laptop.
  2. On the Lenovo boot-screen, first press the Enter key and then press F1 in the Startup Interrupt Menu that appears afterwards to enter the BIOS.
  3. The laptop should not be connected to a power supply for the next steps.

  5. Use the left/right arrow keys to navigate to the Config section.
  6. Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate to the Power option and press Enter .
  7. Use the up/down arrow keys to navigate to Disable Built-in Battery and press Enter.
  8. Confirm disabling with Enter.
  9. The battery is now temporarily disabled so you can safely proceed with the next steps. To turn your laptop back on, you will need to connect it to a charger..

  11. Loosen the eight Phillips #0 screws on the underside of the case.
  12. The screws remain stuck in the cover.
  13. Carefully pry the case cover off the laptop.
  14. Use a opening tool or opening pick if you have one.
  15. Do not bend the case cover. Once you have loosened all the screws, the cover can be removed with minimal effort.

  17. Pull the white plug of the speaker cable (towards the battery) out of the socket.
  18. You can use tweezers or a prying/opening tool if you have one. However, the plug should also be easy to remove with your fingernails.
  19. Carefully peel the black protective film covering the battery connector away from the film underneath.
  20. Disconnect the black battery connector from the port; the easiest way to do this is with an opening tool
  21. To reconnect the battery connector during reassembly, simultaneously press the connector downwards and towards the battery to secure it back into place.

  23. Remove the six Phillips #0 screws located on the two speakers to the left and right of the battery.
  24. You can remove the speakers already now by carefully detaching the speaker cable from the holders around the battery.
  25. Remove the seventh Phillips #0 screw located at the bottom of the battery.
  26. Now lift the battery at the bottom edge and remove it (along with the speakers), and remove the speakers.
  27. When inserting the new battery, make sure that the tabs at the top of the battery slide under the motherboard.
