Steps:
- Raise the lid to give full access to the agitator assembly.
- Look for the small round hole located at the very bottom of the agitator skirt.
- This hole is the only place where a tool can lock the agitator for removal.
- The presenter calls this hole out at 49–65 s.
- Feel around the agitator base until you find the raised nipple on the washer plate.
- Rotate the agitator until its hole lines up directly over the nipple.
- Removal will not work unless these two features are perfectly matched.
- Explained at 65–71 s and 120–131 s.
- Insert a Phillips screwdriver through the hole and press firmly until it bottoms out.
- The screwdriver must be jammed in hard to keep the mechanism from turning.
- Push the tool in deeply; it cannot damage anything and must engage fully.
- Presenter notes at 173–175 s not to worry about going too far.
- Have a helper hold the washer tub steady so it cannot rotate while you twist the agitator.
- If working solo, brace the tub with your free hand while keeping the screwdriver seated.
- The agitator housing tries to move with the tub and makes removal difficult (151–162 s).
- Grip the agitator housing and turn it clockwise until it breaks free from the drive tabs.
- Clockwise release direction stated at 139–146 s.
- Lift the agitator straight up and out of the tub once it releases.
- If you need hub access, remove the central 7⁄16-inch bolt with a socket wrench and lift off the plate.
- Align the four slots on the agitator base with the four plastic retention pieces on the washer plate.
- Lower the agitator onto the tabs until it sits flush on the plate.
- Twist the agitator clockwise until it snaps and will not rotate freely.
- Rock the agitator back and forth to confirm it is fully seated.
- Presenter repeatedly moved the agitator to ensure it was secure (203–208 s).
- Press the fabric-softener dispenser cap back onto the agitator top.
