ID: 206828
Description: If the sun visor in your 2020 Acura MDX is...
Steps:
- Identify the main connection between the visor and car ceiling.
- Unlatch the sun visor off the hook opposite to the main hinge.
- Search around the hinge connection to locate the exposed latch opening
- The location varies with model to model or year to year. In this case the opening was on the back side of the hinge (on the side closer to the front windshield).
- Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the opening, adding light to medium pressure inwards and downwards at the same time.
- As you apply pressure, simultaneously rotate the sun visor back and forth until it the latch releases from the car roof.
- Don't apply excessive pressure as it can chip away or damage the inner piece of the hinge.
- Hold the visor steady as to not damage the wires that are still connected.
- Pull out the wires slowly to reveal the connection point between wire and visor.
- Locate the internal clasp on the white plastic joiner. This connects the electricity from the car to the visor's light
- Apply pressure to disconnect the joint.
- Unlatch the point of connection of the old visor.
- Then latch the point of connection to the new visor.
- While latching the new visor, line up the two components as shown in the image. The female connector (lower piece) should have its bottom match the male connector's (top piece) bottom.
- Push the wire slowly and carefully back into the roof compartment, ensuring none sticks out.
- Insert the new visor at about the angle shown in the photo and rotate it into position to lock the internal clasp mechanism in the hinge again.
- Optional: The hook can also be removed and replaced.
- Rotate the hook counterclockwise and pull it down as it loosens to detach.
- Insert a new hook if the previous is unable to properly function.
