8BitDo Pro 2 Joystick Cover Replacement

Steps:

1. Flip the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller so that the back side is facing up.

2. Slide the battery cover off to remove it and expose the battery.

3. Use your hands to remove the battery pack from the controller.
4. Do not bend or puncture the battery pack, this can be hazardous.

5. Using the iFixit blunt tweezers, peel back the top two corners of the sticker located inside the battery compartment.

6. Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to remove the four 5.0 mm screws from the back of the controller.

7. Insert the iFixit pick into the seam along the edge of the controller and slide it around to release the clips holding it together.
8. Leave opening picks in the space to keep the top and bottom case from reattaching.
9. Use an iFixit tool to carefully pry around the edges of the controller.
10. Once loosened, gently separate the top and bottom of the controller.
11. Do not separate the top and bottom sections, as they are still connected by a ribbon cable.

12. Use a spudger to gently push up on alternating sides of the black plastic tab until it clicks up into its unlocked position.
13. Don't push the tab too hard or too far, otherwise it may come completely off the connector.
14. Use tweezers to gently pull the cable out of its socket.
15. The cable should be able to slide in and out of the socket with little to no force. If you feel resistance, the tab may not be fully unlocked.
16. During reassembly, insert the cable into its socket and use the flat end of a spudger to push the tab down into its locked position.
17. Separate the top and bottom casing of the controller.
18. If you feel resistance, check for any cables still connecting the two halves and avoid forcing them apart.

19. Pull the joystick cover straight up from the motherboard to remove it.
20. Press down firmly on the joystick cover when replacing it.
