ID: 213340
Description: This teardown guide show step by step...
Steps:
- Locate the 4 rubber feet on the top of the controller
- Use a spudger to pry each of them out
- They are held in by friction only, no adhesives
- For reassembly, note that each of the feet have a notched side
- The holes have a gap that the notch will slide into
- The upper 2 holes are oriented straight towards the center of the controller grip
- The lower 2 holes are oriented 45 degrees up and to the center of the grip
- Using a 00 Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 4 screws that were under the 4 rubber feet
- Note: There will be 3 types of screws you will encounter during disassembly. Pay attention to the type for reassembly.
- Hold the magnetic center of the controller and apply light pressure to the outer grips using your fingers
- This will flex the lower cover which will create a space for you to insert your spudger
- Insert the spudger and twist slightly. This movement should pop the cover off
- Note: If the cover does not come off, look at the next step for a reference picture of the inside of this cover. There are plastic tabs that can be used as pry locations
- This is a reference image of what the inside of that lower cover looks like
- There are 5 tabs that hold onto the upper cover with friction
- Using the 00 Phillips head screwdriver, remove the 4 center screws
- Like previously mentioned, make note of the size and shape of these screws
- Using the 00 Phillips head screwdriver, remove the last 2 screws
- Make note of the 3rd type of screw
- The lower grips should lift off of the central magnetic section now that all screws have been removed
