Beolit 12 Battery Replacement Bang&Olufsen - attempt - but you can succeed!

Steps:

1. Open the device via screws on bottom and in side compartment and remove the battery unit.
2. It's fairly simple and there are plenty of Youtube vids on how to open the Beolit 12.

6. I had no luck finding this unit, or something similar. I see many others trying also.

7. The unit appears glued or ultrasonically welded closed.
8. Be very careful not to damage the wiring when attempting to open.
9. Be careful to avoid damaging the cells. They can easily catch fire if damaged!
10. I had the choice of a grinder or a multitool. And chose the multitool. This gives better control and a thinner cut, so will be easier to put together later.
11. But a Dremel with a small grinding disk could work also.

12. Watch the fingers!
13. put the pack in the vice, very gently with some padding.
14. Found something to fit to fill the space to the half way seam, to guide the multitool, and make a nice straight line.
15. Started on the rounded side (=short side), which is battery side, to avoid getting into the electronics by mistake.
16. Use a very fine blade. Use the guide to GENTLY, piece by piece open the seam.
17. Don't touch/damage any wiring!!
18. Once this side is fully open, remove from vice.

19. Boy this thing is hard to open without really breaking it...but persistence got the job done.
20. Edges were reasonably easy to pry loose, also because of the cable openings. Used screwdriver and my circlip pliers.
21. Start going around the corner with the multitool.
22. Throughout, put some tension by sticking something in the sides.
23. I would not go near the long square side, that holds the electronics and one slip and history!
24. Plenty of white glue inside also.

25. So we can see 4 more or less standard batteries. With what looks like a temp sensor, and connections to monitor each cell individually.

28. You can see the packaging is pretty tight, and you can also see the little edge on the housing, making it tough to get in between.

29. If your batteries did not leak like mine, all should be straight forward for someone with some basic electronics repair skills.
30. This one looks like a total loss for my skillset.
31. But the device works without battery, and of course, I can always go for the Youtube solution and build something into the battery compartment.
