How to Fix A Byzantine Chainmail Bracelet
ID: 219718
Description: A Byzantine chain might be confusing to repair...
Steps:
- Using your bent nose pliers, pick up a closed jump ring.
- Using your needle nose pliers, bend one end of the ring towards yourself.
- Repeat above steps until you have 2-3 open jump rings.
- Arrange the two ends of the broken bracelet to face each other.
- Make sure both sides of the bracelet have the same ring orientation.
- Using your left hand, hold one end of the broken bracelet.
- Fold the first pair of rings back, one ring laying on each side of the second pair of rings.
- This allows you to move the second pair of rings for the next step.
- Reference slide #2 and #3 for multiple perspectives of the first pair of rings folded back on the second pair.
- Spread the second pair of rings apart and push the first pair of rings up, opening a gap (as shown in slide #2).
- Using your pliers, take an open ring and place it through the gap.
- The open ring should pass through two closed rings on the broken bracelet.
- Take the second broken bracelet end and open in the same way as the first.
- Using the same open jump ring currently threaded through one the first bracelet end, thread it through the same open rings on the second bracelet end.
- The open jump ring is now threaded through four closed jump rings, two from each bracelet end.
- Using both pliers, close the open jump ring.
- Using your pliers, grab a second open jump ring and thread it parallel to the previous jump ring.
- Close the jump ring.
- The two bracelets ends are now connected by two closed jump rings.
- Congratulations! You fixed your byzantine chainmail bracelet!
