Mending a Tear in the Inner-Thigh Section of Jeans
ID: 219800
Description: The inner-thigh area is one of the most common...
Steps:
- Thread the needle with a suitable length of thread.
- Cut the thread.
- Tie a knot at the end of the thread to prevent slipping.
- Insert the thread into the top area of the jeans, with the needle facing up. Approximately 1-2 cm above the actual rip.
- Thread through the entire thread till the knot reaches the fabric.
- Do not use force to pull through; the knot will go through on the other side.
- Tie a knot using the thread that had been threaded through from step 3. This ensures a secure beginning for the entire stitch.
- Staring on the side facing yourself, thread the needle horizontally and out on the same side ~1 cm.
- Pull the thread through, but DO NOT TIGHTEN.
- Repeat on the opposite side (side facing away from you), roughly at the same level as the previous stitch.
- Pull through, but DO NOT TIGHTEN.
- Repeat with alternating sides, but DO NOT TIGHTEN the thread during this process. Repeat the steps until nearing the end of the hole.
- If done correctly, it should appear like a ladder-like web.
- Once you reach the end of the hole, pull the excess thread to tighten the invisible stitch. You may need to do this with some strength, but ensure you do not snap the thread in the process.
- Take your needle and thread from the outside in and pull the thread through.
- Flip your jeans inside out and locate the area of repair; the thread and needle should be hanging on this side.
- Find a small area of fabric to pierce through and pull the thread, but do not tighten yet.
- The thread should be in a loop, and you would need to thread the needle into this loop you have formed.
- From there, you will tighten the thread and form a knot. Ensure your thumb and index finger to hold down the knot close to the fabric as you tighten.
- Repeat the process to make a double knot.
- After double-knotting, we can trim the remaining thread.
- Flip your jeans back and the tear is fixed! You are good to go.
