Removing Stuck Disk from 5.25" Drive

Steps:

  1. Orient the drive so that the bottom side (and the attached 3.5" drive) faces up
  2. Unscrew the two indicated screws
  3. Remove the front bezel by pulling it away from the drive

  4. Re-orient the drive to be right-side-up
  5. Remove the three indicated screws
  6. Remove the top cover by lifting it up and away from the drive

  7. The engage/eject latch mechanism is shown in the red box in picture 1
  8. Fully depress the engage/eject button
  9. Slowly allow (or force if stuck) the engage/eject arm to release while rotating the latch (red arrow) in such a way that it no longer encapsulates the latch pin (blue circle)
  10. Fully release the engage/eject arm and remove the stuck disk
