Steps:

1. Leave every panel installed during any powered check.
2. Set the timer and press Start only long enough to see whether the drum turns.
3. If the dryer sounds like it is running but the drum does not move, suspect a broken belt.
4. Keep your hands, hair, and clothing away from moving parts during a powered test.
5. Unplug the dryer before removing any panel.
6. Never work inside the dryer while it is plugged in.
7. Let the dryer cool before touching internal parts.
8. Shut off the gas supply first if this is a gas dryer.
9. Remove the two screws securing the small rear access panel.
10. Remove the access panel and look toward the idler pulley and motor pulley.
11. If no belt is attached to the pulleys, the belt is broken.
12. The broken belt may have fallen to the far side of the dryer where it is hard to see.
13. Remove the two screws at the back of the top panel.
14. Slide the top panel toward the rear of the dryer.
15. Lift the top panel off and set it aside.
16. Tilt the dryer back enough to reach the screws under the lower front panel.
17. Have a helper steady the dryer so it does not tip or slide.
18. Remove the two screws from the underside of the lower front panel.
19. Pull the bottom of the lower front panel outward until the two pins release.
20. Remove the two screws exposed behind the lower front panel.
21. Set the dryer upright again.
22. Clean dust and cobwebs from the lower cabinet while it is open.
23. Disconnect the control-panel, door-switch, and light connectors.
24. Remove the four screws across the top edge of the front opening.
25. The two screws that go into the plastic control top can stay in place, but removing all four also works.
26. Keep track of every top screw for reassembly.
27. Remove the two rear-facing screws that secure the front panel to the side panels.
28. If you can reach them, hold each screw against the screwdriver with a finger to keep it from dropping.
29. These screws are awkward to reach, so dropping one is common.
30. Use a flathead screwdriver to release the spring clips along the sides of the front panel.
31. Pull the front panel away from the side panels.
32. Lift the front panel off the top hooks and set it aside.
33. Lift the back of the drum so the rear ball comes out of its socket.
34. Pull the drum forward and out of the cabinet.
35. You can route a belt without removing the drum, but pulling it out gives you room to clean the cabinet.
36. A greasy rear ball is normal.
37. Clean dust and lint out of the cabinet while the drum is removed.
38. Watch for sharp sheet-metal edges and avoid pulling on internal wires.
39. Lift the rear of the drum before pulling forward, or the ball will stay locked in the slot.
40. Guide the drum back into the cabinet with the rear ball held high.
41. Lower the drum until the rear ball drops into its socket.
42. You should feel the ball seat into place.
43. Slip the new belt around the drum.
44. Position the belt on the old wear marks if they are visible.
45. Let the lower loop of the belt hang near the idler pulley.
46. Route the belt over the top of the idler pulley.
47. Pull the idler pulley to the right.
48. Route the belt under the motor pulley.
49. Spin the drum by hand to confirm the belt tracks correctly.
50. Reposition the belt if it walks away from the wear marks.
51. A misaligned belt can jump off as soon as the dryer starts.
52. Do not power the dryer while the cabinet is open.
53. Set the front-panel hooks into the slots at the top of the cabinet.
54. Hold the front panel slightly away from the cabinet while you lift the drum onto the front felt seal.
55. Press the front panel toward the side panels until the spring clips snap in.
56. If a spring clip rotates out of position, reach in and turn it back before snapping it into place.
57. Spin the drum by hand to confirm it turns freely.
58. Reconnect the control-panel, door-switch, and light connectors.
59. Do not forget any of these connectors.
60. Reinstall the four top screws you removed.
61. Shift the front panel slightly if a screw hole does not line up.
62. Make sure the top screws seat fully.
63. Reinstall the two rear-facing screws that secure the front panel to the side panels.
64. Install these screws before closing the lower opening so dropped screws are easy to retrieve.
65. Set the top panel about 3/4 inch to 1 inch behind its final position.
66. Slide the top panel forward until it locks in place.
67. Reinstall the two screws at the back of the top panel.
68. Fit the right edge of the rear access panel into its slots.
69. Swing the panel closed and reinstall its two screws.
70. Reinstall the two screws exposed behind the lower front panel.
71. Insert the two white pins on the lower front panel into the bottom of the main front panel.
72. Use a knee to hold the lower panel in place if you need an extra hand.
73. Push up on the panel if the screw holes sit slightly low.
74. Reinstall the two screws under the lower front panel.
75. Set the dryer back down if it is still tilted.
76. Confirm that every panel is installed and every screw is secure.
77. Plug the dryer back in.
78. Set the timer, press Start, and run the dryer briefly.
79. Confirm that the drum spins smoothly.
80. If the drum does not spin or you hear scraping, stop the dryer, unplug it, and recheck the belt routing.
