Steps:

  1. Fully dry your waders after every use and wash. Moisture left behind can lead to mold, mildew, and material breakdown.
  2. Let your waders drip dry as soon as possible by hanging them somewhere and letting excess water drip off.
  3. Air dry the inside of your waders by turning them inside-out and hanging them in a shaded, well-ventilated area until the inside is completely dry.
  4. You can do this outdoors or in the area where you plan to store them. Laundry lines, ladders, and trees are all great options for air drying. This may take up to 24 hours.
  5. Air dry the outside of your waders by turning them right-side-out and hanging them in a shaded, well-ventilated area until the outside is completely dry.
  6. Store your waders properly by hanging them by the shoulder straps or on a specialty wader hanger in a well-ventilated storage space.

  8. After a day or two of fishing or wader use, it's time to give the waders a quick hose rinse to get rid of dirt, grime, and sweat
  9. Flip the waders inside-out and hang them outside. Use a hose to rinse the inside of the waders. Let the inside of the waders dry completely.
  10. If the inside is fairly clean, you can skip the inside rinse, but make sure to fully dry the inside.
  11. Flip the waders right-side-out and use a hose to rinse the outside of the waders. Let the outside of the waders dry completely.
  12. Dry and store the waders as outlined in Step 1.

  14. For a deeper clean, fill a tub or container with enough cool water to fully cover the waders.
  15. Add a mild liquid detergent or a technical wash. Patagonia® recommends Storm Clothing Wash.
  16. If you plan on air-drying the waders, make sure the detergent doesn’t require heat to activate.
  17. Wash the outside of the waders for 5 minutes by gently squeezing and scrubbing the waders while they're submerged.
  18. Flip the waders inside-out and wash the inside of the waders for five minutes.
  19. Rinse the inside and outside of the waders twice in clean, cold water.
