Beats Pill 1.0 Motherboard Replacement

Steps:

  1. Using the spudger, create space between the speaker covers and then remove.
  2. On the underside of the device, remove the rubber stand with the BeatsPill logo on it.
  3. Using an ESD-safe Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the four screws that were underneath the rubber stand.

  5. Remove the two screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
  6. Slowly remove the center band and two clip rings until the adhesive separates. Sit to the side the clip rings and the center band

  8. Use the spudger to pry the device apart along its seam, starting in the middle.
  9. Open the device to separate the front and back panels.

  11. Carefully remove the yellow, red, black, and white wires from the motherboard.
  12. Ground yourself when touching the motherboard.

  14. Carefully remove the black and red NFC sensor wires.

  16. Carefully remove the control cables (4 black, 1 red).

  18. Remove the four 6 mm screws holding the band in place using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  20. Remove the three 9 mm screws from motherboard and rubber stopper using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  22. Remove the motherboard from the tabs and gently lift it out of the case.
  23. Remove the yellow NFC module that is attached to the motherboard from the plastic casing with tweezers.

  25. Remove the power button and springs.

  27. Using a wire stripper, cut the red and black wires attached to the motherboard.

  29. Using a soldering iron, attach the battery to the new motherboard with the red wire connecting to the 0.2 volts (+) and black wire connecting to the ground (-).
