Dell Inspiron 530 DCMF RAM Replacement
ID: 40680
Description: Replacing the RAM is simple, push down a snap...
Steps:
- Locate and unscrew the two large screws at the back of the computer. Once the screws are removed, the panel on the right side will slide towards the back, and release itself. Lift the panel off the computer to reveal the internals.
- The RAM will be located on the main circuit board, known as the motherboard. There should be two chips in parallel with each other, both sticking up at a 90-degree angle.
- On both ends of the RAM chip, there will be white tabs. Push down on these tabs to release the chip from the motherboard.
- Pull up on the RAM chip to remove it.
- Do not touch the gold edge of the chip. The oils on your hands can damage it.
- When inserting the new chip, find the open slot you just took one out of, and then line up the pins on the stick with the holes in the slot, then push down firmly.
- Once the RAM is in, make sure to push up the white tabs on each side to lock it in place.
