Steps:

  1. Before starting the disassembly, make sure the device is powered off.
  2. Unscrew the 4 screws using the PH000 drill bit from the iFixit toolkit.
  3. Don't forget to store the screws in a safe location, such as a magnetic board. You will need the screws to put the device back together later.

  5. Use the plastic opening tool from the iFixit toolkit to separate the back from the front of the device. To do this, wedge the opening tool into the crack where the two sides of the device cover meet.
  6. After the tool is wedged in, push down on the exposed end until the two sides come apart.

  8. Using the PH000 drill bit from the iFixit toolkit, unscrew the 2 screws that attach the motherboard to the device.

  10. Using the plastic opening tool from the iFixit toolkit, insert the tool in between the device and the motherboard. Push down on the exposed end of the device to release the motherboard from the device.
  11. Step image
  12. Using the soldering tool, remove the headphone jack from the device.
  13. Be careful when using the soldering device as it will be very hot.
  14. Using the soldering tool, replace the old headphone jack with a new one. Solder the new headphone jack into place.
