Steps:

1. Open the DVD reader and remove the 4.3mm Phillips screw.

2. Remove black shield with a plastic spudger.

3. Remove the two 2.8mm Phillips screws pictured.

4. Next remove the underlying silver colored shield with a plastic spudger.

5. With tweezers, gently remove the DVD laser, and expose solder leads.

6. With a solder iron, remove solder leads.

8. Once solder leads are removed, and solder iron has been safely put away, you my know handle and replace DVD laser. Full replacement follows the steps provided in reverse.
