Steps:

  1. Make sure the laptop is powered OFF. Gently turn the laptop over and place it on a flat surface.
  2. The battery may be warm or even HOT to the touch.
  3. Locate the battery EJECT latch.

  5. Grab the laptop firmly on the side and using your thumb, press the eject latch towards the OUTER edge of the device.
  6. The battery will be lifted out of the laptop slightly as you press the latch over as far as it will go.
  7. When replacing the battery, you DO NOT need to adjust the latch. Once the battery is replaced, snap it into place and the latch will return to normal.

  9. Pull the battery up and towards you to remove it from the laptop chassis.
  10. Once the battery is out, you will be able to check the battery label for the replacement part number.
  11. The part number is needed when purchasing a new battery.

  13. Locate the CD/DVD ROM drive. In order to recover an important disc from the drive, locate the manual release hole.
  14. Insert paper clip or other small diameter object to engage the release mechanism.
  15. Apply slow, steady pressure until the drive pops out. The ejection mechanism in the manual release hole is small. Multiple attempts may be needed to eject.

  17. Locate the screw that secure the CD/DVD ROM drive.
  18. Use Philips #0 screwdriver to remove the 2.5 x 5.0mm CD/DVD ROM screw.
  19. Place the 2.5 x 5.0mm CD/DVD ROM drive screw on the magnetic project mat.

  21. Slowly remove the CD/DVD ROM drive from the laptop.
