Description: Guide to replacing your phone's slider.

Steps:

  1. Press the panel release button on the top of the phone and simultaneously pull the rear panel away from the phone.

  3. Tilt the battery by lifting at the exposed notch.
  4. Slide the battery out of its casing.

  6. Use a T4 screwdriver to unscrew all six of the .216 inch screws that attach the housing to the case.

  8. Use a plastic opening tool to lift the plastic casing.
  9. Pull the plastic casing directly away from the phone.

  11. Lift the black rubber loudspeaker housing up and out of the plastic casing.

  13. Use a plastic opening tool to gently lift up the SIM card reader, located above the rubber antenna casing. You should hear a click as it releases.
  14. Caution: Remove carefully, if broken, the phone will not be able to make calls.

  16. Use a plastic opening tool to pry the two ribbon cable connectors, unclipping them from their sockets on the motherboard.
  17. Caution: Remove carefully, if broken, the phone will not function properly.

  19. Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the motherboard up until you can tilt it with your fingers. Unhook it from the casing and slowly pull it out.
  20. Caution: Do this gently Unclipping too fast may cause damage to your phone.

  22. Turn the phone to the front.
  23. Push the keypad out through the plastic casing.

  25. Turn the phone to the side.
  26. Thread the hinges of the slider through their holes in the casing and pull the slider down and away from the casing.

  28. Use a T4 screwdriver to unscrew the two .15 inch screws holding the LCD to the faceplate.

  30. Use a spudger to pry the plastic screen casing partially up from the LCD unit.
  31. Use the spudger to pry the ribbon cable away from its clip on the LCD unit.
  32. Caution: Do this carefully, damage to this ribbon cable will cause a blank screen.
  33. Pull the plastic screen casing directly away from the LCD unit.

  35. Use a spudger to lift the LCD partially away from the metal casing.
  36. Use the spudger to pry the ribbon cable directly up from its clip on the metal casing.
  37. Caution: Damage to the ribbon cable here will cause screen damage.
  38. Pull the LCD completely away from the metal casing.

  40. Use the pointed end of a spudger to push the black peg into the larger side of the slot.
  41. Push the peg through so that it is completely clear of the slot.

  43. Turn the phone around and slide the slider down its track until it is free of the casing.
  44. The ribbon that fits into the rectangular slot on the slider will slip through this slot as you detach the slider.
