Steps:

  1. Remove the back cover.
  2. If inserted, remove the SIM card and SD card.

  3. Remove midframe screws.
  4. Carefully pry between the screen and midframe to release the clips holding it on.
  5. Remove the midframe.
  6. Heat an iOpener and lay it over the battery for one minute.
  7. Take care not to puncture or bend the battery with your tool—a punctured or bent battery may leak dangerous chemicals or cause a thermal event.
  8. Carefully, with a pry pick, pry under the battery to cut the adhesive underneath it.
  9. If you are having trouble, apply a heated iOpener onto the battery for another minute, then try again.
  10. You can also apply a few drops of high concentration isopropyl alcohol to the edges of the battery to help soften the adhesive.
  11. Remove the battery.
  12. Do not reuse the battery after it has been removed, as doing so is a potential safety hazard. Replace it with a new battery.
