Steps:

  1. Begin with the laptop lying to its back revealing its underside.
  2. Locate the two latches on the bottom of the laptop. Slide the latches inward until a faint click is heard.

  4. Completely remove the battery from the laptop.

  6. Unscrew the 4mm screw, and slide the cover off away from the computer to reveal the housing for the hard drive and RAM boards.

  8. Locate the gray hard drive cover, and remove the four corner 3.5mm screws.

  10. Lift the hard drive cover by pulling upwards on the removal handle.
  11. You can now remove the hard drive from the laptops housing freeing up space to replace your damaged or broken hard drive with a new hard drive.

  13. Remove the grip pad at the top right corner of the laptop using a Phillips screwdriver. Pop the grip pad from its place to reveal a 4 mm screw.
  14. Remove all seventeen 4 mm screws.
  15. Be careful not to tear the rubber foot hiding the screw.

  17. Use an opening tool to pop the back panel of the laptop off. Start at the corners and slide the opening tool along the edges of the laptop.
  18. This is a slow process. Do not attempt to force the back panel off.

  20. Remove the back panel.
  21. Remove the two 4 mm screws holding the fan in place.
  22. Keep all screws gathered in the same place where they won’t get lost.

  24. Unclip the white cable connecting the fan to the motherboard.
  25. Carefully remove the fan from the laptop.
