Nikon Coolpix 7900 LCD Screen Replacement

Description: Use this guide to replace the LCD.

Steps:

  1. Remove the four 3.0mm screws on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Step image
  3. Remove the two 3.0mm screws on the left side of the camera near the memory card compartment.
  4. Step image
  5. Remove the two 3.0mm screws on the right side of the camera.
  6. Step image
  7. Carefully open the back cover. Take care as there are connectors still attached.
  8. Step image
  9. Disconnect the cable by pulling the head upward along the green circuit board. If you only are changing the LCD, skip this step.
  10. Step image
  11. Disconnect the ribbon cable by grabbing the two handles and pulling it directly out of the socket. If you are only changing LCD, skip this step.
  12. The back cover will be disconnected from the camera

  14. First remove the three 2.5mm screws securing the LCD screen to the substrate. Make sure not to keep hold of the little metal connector by the top left screw!
  15. Carefully flip the screen down to reveal the back of the screen
  16. Step image
  17. Disconnect the ribbon cable and gray connector with red and black wires.
  18. Depending on your spare part, you may now need to carefully pry the screen back cover off. It is held by a double sided sticky tape on the inside. Be gentle!
