How to Repair the Base of a Dresser

Steps:

1. Remove all drawers from the dresser.

2. Turn the dresser upside so that the bottom is facing up.
3. You may need to turn the dresser on its side for easier access to the damaged portion of the base.

4. Using a pair of pliers, remove the existing staples from the bottom of the dresser.

5. Remove the piece of hardboard and realign it so that it is in the position you desire.

6. Use the staple gun to staple the hardboard back to the frame of the dresser.
7. Never have staples in the staple gun until you are ready to use it and keep all hands at a safe distance from the staple gun while in use to minimize the risk of an injury.

8. Using the tape measure, measure the distance between the two sides of the dresser frame and then cut a beam of wood to fit these specifications.
9. Be sure to measure the beam of wood as close as possible to ensure that the beam is not visible while viewing the dresser and it will not impede the drawers in any way.

10. Using the drill, screw the beam of wood into place.
11. It is not necessary to drill guide holes into the beam of wood before screwing the beam into place.
