Description: This is a Do-it-yourself tutorial on how to...

Steps:

  1. Use a simple back and forth pattern with the needle and thread to close the holes.
  2. This step is to ensure the shape of your patch. It will not be the outright fix to the problem.

  4. Use an embroidery hoop as a stencil to trace out the damaged area.
  5. Use fabric scissors to cut along the back panel of the jeans. Follow the line.
  6. Cut only the back panel or you will have an unnecessary hole in the front of your pants.

  16. Using an embroidery needle and an embroidery floss add stitches into the patch.
  17. Use a Straight Stitch (just up and down sewing) following the vertical and then horizontal lines.
  18. The embroidery floss comes as a twisted rope. You have to pull the threads from the rope before you can use them.

  20. Pin the patch with as little of the new patch showing as possible.
  21. Use a Whip Stitch to attach the patch. This is an over/under sewing pattern.
  22. Repeat a second time.
  23. Turn inside out and trim down the patch. Use a straight stitch to tighten up any loose spots.

  25. The style is meant to look rustic and DIY. By no means is it a professional finish. Still functional and if done right can be quite cute!
