Steps:

  1. Unscrew the hinge clips from the front of the helmet.
  2. This separates the old cage from the helmet.

  4. Replace the screw clips on the sides of the helmet with the ones from the new cage.
  5. Different companies have different sized clip screws so it is important to install the new ones that come with your cage.

  7. Clip the new hinge clips onto the top center of the new cage.
  8. Make sure the flat side of the hinge is facing towards the inside of the cage, and that it is pointed upward.

  10. Align the hinge holes with the screw holes in the center of the helmet.
  11. Once everything is lined up, screw the hinges into the holes in the helmet to attach the cage to the helmet.

  13. Make sure now that the cage is on that it has full range of motion.
  14. It should fit under the J clips on the sides of the helmet when pushed up.
  15. It should be able to extend 90 degrees outward.

  17. Now tighten the straps on either side of the cage.
  18. Clip the straps into the screws on either side of the helmet to check how tight it is.
  19. The straps should be tight to the screw clip, and the cage should be touching the j-clip.
  20. Once you do this and you put the helmet on, if your chin is sitting perfectly in the chin guard, the helmet and cage will not move from their position if you shake or nod your head.
