ID: 142446
Description: This repair guide covers replacing the BMW...
Steps:
- Put the passenger seat all the way back to create as much room as possible.
- Remove any objects from the floor of the passenger seat so that you have a clean workspace.
- Remove the panel on the right side of the trunk to expose the battery.
- Twist the knob to unlatch the door so that you can remove it.
- Use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the bolt and remove the negative battery terminal.
- Then tuck it to the right side and wrap it in a rag.
- This prevents the circuit from being accidentally completed while you continue working.
- Remove the two T20 Torx screws located below the glove box.
- One is located all the way on the right and the other one is located all the way on the left.
- The panel will drop down as the screws are removed. Pull the panel away slightly.
- Careful not to let it drop all the way down as a wire is connected to the footwell light.
- Disconnect the black cable for the footwell light.
- There is only one connecter that needs to be disconnected to remove the blower motor. This connector is black with two red/orange wires going into it.
- Pinch the connector on the top and bottom and pull it out to remove it.
- Pull down on the tab towards the front of the car and at the same time turn the whole assembly clockwise.
- Pull the round black assembly out from the vehicle.
- This is the blower motor assembly!
- When pulling the blower motor out, be careful not to drop it on yourself.
