Description: Use this guide to replace the battery in your...

Steps:

  1. Completely power off your device before you begin.
  2. Apply a heated iOpener to the bottom edge of the device to loosen the adhesive underneath.
  3. The display adhesive of the Galaxy Tab S7+ is extremely strong, and it's likely you need to reheat and reapply the iOpener several times before starting the display removal and during the removal procedure.
  4. A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may also be used, but be careful not to overheat the device.

  6. While you're waiting for the adhesive to loosen, note the following:
  7. There's a long circuit board attached to the screen that sits parallel to the bottom edge.
  8. Don't insert the pick more than 2 mm to avoid damaging the circuit board.
  9. This image shows an example of the display separating from the glass panel.
  10. Don't insert the pick more than 3 mm to avoid damaging the display.

  12. Once the screen is warm to touch, apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen and as close to the edge as possible.
  13. If your screen is badly cracked, covering it with a layer of clear packing tape may allow the suction cup to adhere. Alternatively, very strong tape may be used instead of the suction handle. If all else fails, you can superglue the suction cup to the screen.
  14. Lift the screen with the suction handle to create a small gap between the screen and the frame.
  15. Insert an opening pick into the gap between the frame and the screen.
  16. Don't insert the pick more than 2 mm to avoid damaging the circuit board.
  17. Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

  51. Don't try to remove the screen all the way yet; it's still connected to the frame by a flex cable.
  52. With the top of the device facing you, pull the screen up and away from you like you're opening a book.
  53. Rest the screen upside down and parallel to the frame before continuing.
  54. Don't twist the screen or move it too far away from the frame to avoid damaging the flex cable.
  55. During reassembly:
  56. This is a good point to power on your tablet and test all functions before sealing it up. Be sure to power your tablet back down completely before you continue working.
  57. Remove any adhesive chunks with a pair of tweezers or your fingers. Use some high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol to wipe away any adhesive residue.
  58. If you're using custom-cut adhesives, follow this guide. If you're using double-sided tape, follow this guide.

  60. Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the display cable's press connector secured to the screen.
  61. To re-attach press connectors like this one, carefully align and press down on one side until it clicks into place, then repeat on the other side. Do not press down on the middle. If the connector is misaligned, the pins can bend, causing permanent damage.

  63. Use tweezers, or you fingers, to hold the display cable in place.
  64. Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor's press connector attached to the display cable.
  65. Take note of the display cable's position; you will need to bend it in the same way when connecting a new screen.

  69. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the fifty 3 mm-long screws securing the frame bracket to the frame.
  70. The third photo has the same screws marked by quadrant. Use this photo during reassembly to help account for all the screws:
  71. Bottom left = 9 screws
  72. Bottom right = 14 screws
  73. Top right = 12 screws
  74. Top left = 15 screws

  92. Use blunt tweezers, or your fingers, to bend the interconnect cable away from the device.
  93. Step image Step image Step image
  94. Take care not to puncture or bend the battery with your tool—a punctured or bent battery may leak dangerous chemicals or cause a fire. In case you're struggling to pull up the battery, apply more isopropyl alcohol and try again.
  95. Apply a few drops of high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol to the gaps surrounding the battery's right edge.
  96. Wait between one to two minutes for the adhesive to loosen.
  97. Only apply a few drops initially and apply more if necessary; too much isopropyl alcohol might overflow onto the motherboard and daughterboard.

  99. While you're waiting for the adhesive to loosen, note the following:
  100. The battery is comprised of two cells that are shrouded in a plastic jacket.
  101. The adhesive securing the battery to the frame is concentrated in a ring shape around the perimeter of the battery.
  102. To minimize the risk of bending or breaking the cells, it's recommended you separate the adhesive cell-by-cell before the entire battery is removed.
  103. Step image Step image Step image
  104. Apply a suction cup to the battery, as close to the center of the right edge as possible.
  105. Insert an opening pick into the edge with the widest gap between the frame and the battery.
  106. Step image Step image Step image
  107. Rotate the opening pick to insert its long edge into the gap.
  108. Pull up on the suction cup with strong, steady force and pry up with the opening pick to separate the battery from the frame.
  109. Create an opening wide enough for a plastic card to be inserted; you will be unable to fully separate the battery's adhesive with the pick.
