Steps:

1. Turn off the laptop before starting.
2. Flip the laptop over so the model stickers face the ceiling.

3. Remove twelve 7 mm screws from the back of the laptop using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

4. Use a Jimmy to pry apart the bottom of the case from the laptop.
5. Be careful not to warp or crack the case.

6. Carefully detach the ribbon cable connecting the battery and the motherboard.

7. Use your hands to lift the battery out of the device.

8. Disconnect the wide black ribbon cable from the motherboard using an iFixit opening tool.
9. Disconnect the blue-tipped ribbon from the motherboard.
10. Be careful not to damage the motherboard while removing the ribbon cables.

11. Remove the golden tape connecting the trackpad to the plastic divider using an iFixit opening tool.
12. Peel back the black plastic divider that separates the motherboard and trackpad.

13. Remove four 3 mm screws from the trackpad using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

14. Carefully remove the trackpad from the device.
