How to Replace a Compressor Start Device in a Whirlpool Refrigerator

Steps:

1. Remove all items from the fridge if possible.
2. Unplug the fridge from the wall outlet.
3. You may need to slide the fridge out from its spot in your kitchen to reach the plug. Be sure to have a friend help you move the fridge if it is very heavy.

4. Remove the ten screws from the rear panel with a Square Head #0 screwdriver.

5. Remove the rear panel.
6. Pull the power cord up while removing the rear panel.
7. Once you remove the rear panel everything will usually be dusty. Use a vacuum or broom to remove the dust if necessary.
8. Remove the clip from the top of the compressor start device using the needle nose pliars.

9. Remove the old compressor start device by unplugging it from the compressor.

10. Put in the new compressor start device.
11. Resemble your new compressor start device and make sure that it is secure.
12. Connect your new compressor start device to the locking tab.
