Removing stubborn labels from empty screw-top jars
ID: 163378
Description: I save all good jam jars and other screw-top...
Steps:
- Spray the adhesive residue all around with the spray. If the label is still attached, spray the label.
- Leave the spray to act for about 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, you will notice that the holes and cracks in the adhesive are getting bigger.
- After 10 minutes, try to scrape off the adhesive with your fingernail. If this does not work yet, leave the spray on for a little longer.
- Then scrape off the adhesive residue roughly with your fingernails or the back of a knife.
- Next, take a dishwashing sponge and rub off the adhesive as best you can with the abrasive side of the sponge.
- Rinse off the adhesive residue with hot water. Put some dish soap on the sponge and use the scouring side to help remove the adhesive.
- If there is still adhesive residue, spray the glass again all around with the label remover.
- Wait 10 minutes.
- Put some dish soap directly on the glass and rub it in well with your finger.
- Rinse it again with hot water and scrub it with the sponge.
- Repeat this step until the adhesive is removed. In my case, spraying twice was enough to remove the stubborn label adhesive residue.
- It's really clean now—and ready for blueberry jam! (Thanks to my daughter for her artistic assistance.)
