Steps:

  1. Caution: Before beginning, turn off the ionvac and place it on a level surface.
  2. Keep in mind that your ionvac has many small screws that can be easily lost. Using a magnetic project mat is best to prevent misplacing any parts.
  3. Flip your ionvac right-side up, turning it so that the front filter vents are facing forward and the power button is furthest from you.

  4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 8 screws indicated in red holding the base together.
  5. Use the same screwdriver to remove the 8 screws indicated in orange which hold the rims (bumper arms).
  6. Remove the rims from your ionvac and set them aside.

  7. Flip your ionvac right-side up and tilt it upwards at a 45 degree angle.
  8. Use a Jimmy or prying tool to wedge the sharp end through the bottom crevice (below the sensors).
  9. Continue prying the outside rim of your ionvac open. You will feel the top shell (frame or cover) loosen.
  10. Caution: Resist the urge to tear the top shell open until the entire rim has been loosened.

  11. Lift the top shell off carefully.

  12. The top shell includes the power button and the space for the filter.
  13. The bottom shell includes motors for the wheels, the logic board, and the main vacuum.
  14. There are three sensor slits on the top shell that allow protect the interior from damage without covering the sensors.
  15. When putting back together, ensure that these sensor slits are aligned towards the logic board side.

  16. Upon removing the top and bottom shell, loose pieces should be noted such as these bottom rim pieces. These rim pieces are oriented in a way where the piece circled in green is placed underneath the other rim.
  17. Ensure that the screws are not too tight when putting the bottom rim pieces back together or else the bumper will stay compressed instead of springing back.

  18. Ensure that this wedge piece for the filter is still oriented in its appropriate place.
  19. It is located near the motor beside the filter.

  20. Ensure that the vacuum filter is still oriented upright in the filter casing.
  21. It is located on the end of the bottom shelf, opposite the logic board.

  22. The metal bumper, located at the front of the vacuum, should be oriented upright on the sensors.
  23. It is located on the outside of the bottom shell, at the head of the logic board.
