Steps:
- Remove the 10 marked screws using a Phillips #1 screwdriver from the back plate.
- M2.5 × 7 mm, Phillips-head (6) (RED circles)
- M2.5 × 4 mm, Phillips-head (4) (ORANGE circles)
- The red circles show the longer screws, and the orange circles show the shorter screws.
- Keep your screws organized. They’re different lengths and must go back in their original positions.
- After removing all ten screws, use a plastic spudger to separate the bottom cover from the laptop.
- Gently slide the tool around the edges until the clips begin to release.
- Once all the clips are loose, lift the cover off and set it aside.
- The Wi-Fi card is located near one corner of the motherboard. It has two antenna wires connected to it (one black and one gray).
- Disconnect the black wire with your fingers or small ESD-safe tweezers.
- Lift the connector straight up to avoid bending it.
- Disconnect the gray wire with your fingers or small ESD-safe tweezers.
- The black wire is the main antenna; the gray wire is the auxiliary antenna.
- Remove the single 3 mm screw holding Wi-Fi card in place using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
- After removing the screw, the Wi-Fi card will pop up at an angle.
- Gently pull the card straight out of the slot.
- Avoid touching the gold connectors and do not bend the card.
- Remove the old Wi-Fi card from the slot.
- Insert the new Wi-Fi card at the same angle and slide it into place.
- Press the card down and reinstall the screw.
- Reattach the black and gray antenna wires by pressing each connector straight down until it clicks.
