Description: The display assembly of an ASUS Q525U (Model...
Steps:
- Begin by powering off the device and flipping the device over.
- Carefully remove the two longer 9.5 mm screws on the corners with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
- Remove the eight 7.5 mm Phillips #1 screws on the back of the device.
- Use an opening pick to separate the back cover from the device.
- For easiest removal, begin by prying at one of the front corners and sliding the tool under the cover in a counter-clockwise motion (to the left) toward the laptop hinge.
- Once the cover has been separated from the device, carefully lift the back cover off the device (begin by lifting from the front of the cover first).
- The back cover should be easily removable, allowing full access to all of the internal components.
- Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two 5.7 mm screws securing the hinge.
- Remove the two 4.6 mm screws using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
- Remove the four screws from the other hinge. There should be eight screws removed in total from both hinges.
- Use a 5.5 mm hex socket driver to loosen the hinges.
- Raise the hinges using your hands.
- If they are difficult to lift, loosen the hinges with the Hex socket driver until you can easily lift the hinges.
- Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the 5.7 mm screw securing near the corner of the battery and fan.
- Gently push the tip of a spudger under the metal buckle to unclip the display connector lock, then swing it over the socket.
- Next, hold the buckle and cable together and gently pull the connector straight out of its socket.
- To reconnect:
- Grip the cable and buckle together and insert the connector fully into its socket.
- Aligning the connector can be tricky. Reposition it as necessary and don't try to force it into the socket, or you may damage both the connector and its socket.
- Flip the buckle over the socket and use a spudger to press the buckle down until it clicks into place.
- Use the built-in pull-tab and lift straight up to disconnect these the press connector.
- If the pull tab is missing, place a spudger or an opening tool under the connector's edge and pry straight up to disconnect it.
- Make sure to pry under the edge of the connector itself, and not under the socket on the board. Otherwise, you risk permanently damaging the socket.
- Work carefully: don't pry on or accidentally scrape any small, surface mounted components on the board.
- To reconnect, align the connector carefully over its socket and press down with your fingertip—first on one side, then the other—until it clicks into place. Don't try to force the connector into place. If you're having trouble, reposition it and try again.
- Don't press down on the middle of wider connectors until they're fully seated. If misaligned, the connector or the pins underneath can bend or break, causing permanent damage.
- Use your hands to detach the display assembly from the laptop.
- If it does not come off easily, recheck you've removed all of the screws and cables.
