Description: This guide will show you how to replace the...
Steps:
- Begin by powering off the device and flipping the device over.
- Carefully remove the two longer 9.5 mm screws on the corners with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
- Remove the eight 7.5 mm Phillips #1 screws on the back of the device.
- Use an opening pick to separate the back cover from the device.
- For easiest removal, begin by prying at one of the front corners and sliding the tool under the cover in a counter-clockwise motion (to the left) toward the laptop hinge.
- Once the cover has been separated from the device, carefully lift the back cover off the device (begin by lifting from the front of the cover first).
- The back cover should be easily removable, allowing full access to all of the internal components.
- Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the four 2.6 mm screws that hold the speakers in place.
- To disconnect the speaker cable, try pushing on alternating sides of the connector, like small sliding connectors.
- If that doesn't work, use a pair of tweezers to firmly grip the sides of the connector and pull straight away from the socket. Hold the tweezers closer to the connector to get a better grip.
- If you're having trouble, try rocking the connector side-to-side to loosen it.
- To reconnect the cable, insert the connector into its socket and push on the edges until it's fully seated.
- Lift the speakers away from the laptop along with the wire that connects the two speakers.
- Make sure to detach the cable from the cable hooks along the edge of the laptop to avoid damaging the speakers or the speaker cable.
