Steps:

1. Remove the lid to the storage tank by using the latch and lifting off.
2. Grab the food storage tank on both sides. Depress the tabs that say "Push" on them and lift the tank off.

3. Place your pet feeder upside down.
4. Squeeze the lock and remove the battery cover.
5. Remove the three 1.5V D alkaline batteries.

6. Insert a metal spudger under the adhesive part of each rubber foot.
7. Pry the foot off.

8. Remove four screws from the corners of the device using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
9. These holes were previously covered by the rubber feet.
10. Using the magnetic tip of the screwdriver, carefully lift the screw out of the hole.

11. Turn the device over so it is oriented right-side up.
12. Lift the top part of the feeder off, exposing the mechanisms that run the feeder.

13. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, remove the six 11.2 mm screws that hold the motor housing on to the device.

14. Using the pliers, cut the red and black wires that attach to the posts on the end of the electric motor.
15. Note which wire is connected to which post on the motor so that you do not mix them up when soldering to the new motor.

16. Using your wire strippers/pliers, gently crimp the plastic insulation on the wire. Do this several times around the wire to make sure that you can pull it off.
17. Because the wire is so thin, it can be easy to accidentally cut all the way through the wire on this step. Take care to only cut through the insulation.
18. You will want to see a score line in the insulation all around the wire like this.
19. Pull the end of the insulation off, exposing the wire.

20. Place the newly cut wire on the post, making sure that it is in good contact with the soldering pad.
21. Solder the wire on to the pad.
22. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the other wire.
