Wesco Tower Collector lid no longer opens – solution found

Description: The lid of our “Wesco Tower Collector” trash...
Steps:
- Remove the lid and turn the power off
- Place the lid upside down and remove all screws with a Phillips screwdriver (note: there are also screws in the (empty) battery compartment)
- Carefully remove the black cover. Be careful not to tear the cables. You can release the cables from their guides to allow for a little more freedom of movement.
- On the ring shown here, a plastic hook (between my fingers) had broken off. The spring has to be tensioned against that provide support for the motor.
- As shown here, I have now inserted a very small nail into the hole as a replacement and tensioned the spring against it. Alternatively, a screw can also be used, but it must be smaller than M2, which I did not have.
- Before closing, make sure that the opening mechanism is pulled in the right direction when the motor turns (this can be seen faintly in the picture below the spring).
- While reassembling, make sure that the cables are placed back in the guides and do not get caught between the plastic parts.
- Screw the cover back on, turn the power on, and try it out. If it still does not work, open it again and check that the opening mechanism is rotating in the right direction.
