Steps:

  1. Open the driver’s door.
  2. Locate the hood release latch below the left side of the steering wheel.
  3. Place two fingers under the latch and pull it upward until you hear a click.
  4. Go to the front of your vehicle and locate the hood latch, it is usually off right from the center and under your hood.
  5. Push up on the latch, and it will unlock your hood.

  7. Find the hood prop and hole.
  8. Raise the hood prop.
  9. Insert the prop rod into the hole.

  11. Next, we will disconnect the battery.
  12. Locate the negative battery terminal (negative is black, while positive is red.)
  13. Use a socket to loosen the bolt on the negative terminal clamp.
  14. Remove the negative terminal clamp from the battery.
  15. Move the clamp aside so it does not touch the battery terminal or any other metal in the vehicle.

  17. Now, we will remove the plastic cover.
  18. Use a 10mm socket to remove the two 10mm nuts near the center of the cover.
  19. Pull up the cover and set it aside with the 10mm nuts.

  21. Locate the 4 ignition coils.
  22. Use a 10 mm socket to loosen the bolt on every ignition coil.
  23. Remove all bolts and place in a safe place.

  25. Press the tabs on the connectors to disconnect them from each coil.
  26. Remove the ignition coil. Put it in a safe place.

  28. Place the spark plug socket onto the spark plug.
  29. Turn the ratchet counterclockwise to loosen the spark plug.
  30. Take out the spark plug. Repeat for all four spark plugs.

  32. Lower the new spark plug into the hole. Turn the extension clockwise by hand first until it becomes tight.
  33. Attach the ratchet and tighten the spark plug a little more. Repeat for each cylinder.

  35. Reinstall each ignition coil by pressing down to seat the coils correctly.
  36. Reinstall the four 10mm bolts. Tighten by hand, then use the ratchet for an extra 1/4 turn.

  38. Reattach the connectors to each ignition coil. Listen for a subtle click. Confirm the electrical connector is secure.
  39. Repeat for all four ignition coils.

  41. Next, reinstall the plastic cover.
  42. Align the holes with the studs and oil fill port.
  43. Place two 10mm nuts.
  44. Tighten by hand, then 1/4 turn with ratchet.

  46. Relocate the negative battery terminal.
  47. Place the terminal clamp over the battery post.
  48. Tighten the bolt with the ratchet until it is snug.
  49. Make sure the cable does not move.
  50. A loose battery terminal can cause a vehicle to not start, so it's best to ensure terminals are tight.

  52. Lift the hood. Put the hood prop back into its downward position.
  53. Secure the prop in the plastic holder. Remove all tools and old parts from the engine bay.
  54. Lower the hood. Press down on the hood to lock it.
  55. Check to make sure there is no gap between the hood and grill. Repeat pressing down until the hood is locked and cannot be lifted.
