Asus VivoBook S14 Motherboard Replacement

Steps:

  1. Remove all eleven 5 mm screws on the back panel with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.
  2. Insert an iFixit opening tool between the back panel and the chassis. Carefully pry around the edges until the plastic clips release.
  3. Do not force the cover. If you feel significant resistance, double-check for missed screws.
  4. Lift the back panel off the laptop.

  6. Carefully detach the connector from the motherboard.
  7. If the battery is swollen or is need of disposal, please follow this guide.

  9. Remove the 5 mm screws holding the battery in place with a JIS #000 screwdriver.

  11. Lift the battery out of the battery socket.

  13. Use the JIS #000 screwdriver to remove the 5mm screws holding the hard drive into place.

  15. Gently remove the hard drive by pulling up from the motherboard and out.
  16. Set aside.

  18. Disconnect the fan connector from the motherboard.

  20. Remove all eight of the 5 mm screws from the fan and heat sink using a JIS #000 screwdriver.

  22. Gently remove the fan and heat sink from the motherboard.
  23. Set aside.

  25. Disconnect all five connectors from the motherboard.

  27. Remove ten 5 mm screws that hold the motherboard into place with a JIS #000 screwdriver.

  29. Gently lift the motherboard out of its compartment.
