Steps:
- Insert the end of a spudger or opening tool in the seam at the top of the controller.
- Slide it around the edge to release the retaining clips.
- Use the spudger to separate the front and back plastic outer shell of the controller.
- Both panels should separate from the front of the bumpers.
- This takes some patience to ensure the panels don’t crack.
- Flip the controller so the bottom is facing up.
- Use the spudger to separate the plastic covering on the hand grips.
- Use a JIS #0 screwdriver to remove ten 10 mm screws from the mid-frame.
- Keep screws organized.
- Use your hands to pry the back panel of the controller.
- You now have access to the back buttons (2 on each side).
- Remove the two JIS #0 scews securing the battery.
- Lift the actuators out of the way to access the screws beneath.
- Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the two 6.9 mm screws under the voice coil actuators.
- Remove the face cover from the controller.
- The buttons may fall out in the process of removing the face cover. Be careful to not to lose them.
- Now you have access to the internal components of the controller.
