Steps:

  1. Wear safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves before working around broken cooktop glass.
  2. Inspect each surface element through the damaged glass for obvious cracks or other heavy damage.
  3. Replace any badly damaged element before installing the new glass.
  4. Even a small element crack can spread and damage the replacement glass.
  5. Find the model and serial label on the range and verify model YWEE745H0LZ1 before ordering parts.
  6. Confirm that the replacement cooktop glass is part number W11112610 for this model.
  7. Inspect the new glass, all four corners, and the perimeter gasket for shipping damage before installation.
  8. Turn all surface controls off and let the cooktop cool completely.
  9. Lay an appliance glide, sheet, or cardboard in front of the range to protect the floor.
  10. Pull the range straight out from the cabinet.
  11. Unplug the range before removing any panels.
  12. If the plug is inaccessible, turn off the range circuit breaker before continuing.
  13. Move the range carefully so it does not tip or strain the power cord.
  14. Remove the three screws securing the bullnose plastic cover with a Robertson screwdriver.
  15. A drill with a Robertson bit will work too.
  16. Support the plastic cover as you remove the last screw so it does not fall and crack.

  18. Remove the left and right screws securing the control panel with a Robertson screwdriver.

  30. Set the rear edge of the new cooktop glass over the rear ventilation pipe.
  31. Lower the glass into place so the rear metal section fits inside the cooktop opening.
  32. Pull the ventilation pipe out slightly if needed so it seats correctly against the new glass.
  33. Slide the glass forward until it sits fully in place.
  34. Check that the mounting holes line up before reinstalling any screws.
  35. Align the rear trim openings with the brackets at the back of the cooktop.
  36. Seat the rear trim so it sits flush on both sides.
  37. Reinstall the three rear-trim screws with a Robertson screwdriver.
  38. Check that the plastic sleeves are still in the lower screw holes before reinstalling the bottom screws.
  39. Reinstall any sleeve that fell out, because the lower screws may not hold without it.
  40. Reinstall the two bottom cooktop screws.
  41. Reinstall the three front cooktop screws.
  42. Lift the control panel back into position while supporting it from both sides.
  43. Guide the left and right brackets behind the control panel as it seats.
  44. Check that the indicator lights are still positioned in the bezel glass before securing the panel.
  45. Reinstall any loose indicator light before you continue.
  46. Replace the bezel glass if a broken mounting point will not hold an indicator light in place.
  47. Reinstall the left and right control-panel screws with a Robertson screwdriver.
  48. Inspect the wiring behind the control panel before reinstalling the bullnose cover.
  49. Do not restore power if any wire is loose or disconnected.
  50. Orient the plastic cover so the two side brackets line up with their slots.
  51. Reposition the cover if it does not sit correctly, because it will not fit if it is flipped or misaligned.
  52. Hold the cover in place and reinstall the three screws.
  53. Plug the range back in or turn the circuit breaker on after every panel is secured.
  54. Push the range back into position over the floor protection.
  55. Make sure the range is fully engaged with its anti-tip bracket, if equipped.
  56. Test all surface elements and indicator lights.
  57. If anything does not work correctly, disconnect power and recheck the wiring, indicator lights, and lower screw sleeves.
