Adjusting the front bonnet

Description: The Smart Roadster front bonnet can misbehave...

Steps:

  1. Open the bonnet from the inside of the car (use the lever in the glove-box) and raise the bonnet completely open.
  2. The 13mm screw used to adjust the closing mechanism of the bonnet. This is the one that probably needs adjustment
  3. Screws which secure the mechanism to the bonnet
  4. Spring which raises the bonnet slightly so that it can be further opened by hand

  5. Use the 13mm Wrench to screw/unscrew the bonnet closing mechanism so that it gets adjusted. Usually it needs unscrewing a little so that it reaches the closing mechanism on the car.
  6. The missing black paint on the screw indicates how much this bonnet closing mechanism needed adjustment
  7. After adjusting, if unscrewing was needed and the closing mechanism screw shows unpainted parts it would be wise to spray-paint the area to protect from corrosion/rust in the future.
